Easter 2020: Easter For Shutins
Greetings to you all! Jesus is Risen! Alleluia!
Xavier's day began about 0630.
He came running out of his room and toward my office. "Daddy! Daddy! The Easter Bunny left a basket in my room!"
He completely missed seeing me sitting on the couch in the other room as he passed by me on his way to my office.
Rebecca still slept soundly as Xavier spotted hidden chocolates and jellybeans everywhere in the rooms he walked through. I was completely impressed how fast he found even some of the more ingeniously hidden prizes.
"You need to wait for your mother to get up," I told Xavier, who was vibrating as though he had already eaten half the candies he had already discovered.
0645, Rebecca was up, much against her desire. She wanted another hour or two of sleep!
That was hard to do with a near seven-year-old bouncing on you.
Xavier spent the next thirty minutes combing the rooms he knew the Easter Bunny favors.
The Bunny hid twelve Resurrection Eggs: plastic eggs with an item pertaining to the Easter Story.
One egg had some nails, one had a piece of cloth, another had a rooster and so on.
Xavier found eleven of these eggs. While Rebecca prepared breakfast, I sat with Xavier and asked him to explain the meaning of each of the items in the eggs. When he could not explain the item, we read the story.
The one egg we did not have was the "White Egg." When we did find it, it was empty!
Xavier knew exactly what that meant!
Christ is Risen!
